The aim of the project is to take users to places they would not necessarily associate with Jewish history: Who lived and worked in Elisenstraße? What was the significance of the Disch-House for Jews in the 1930s? And what happened on Marsplatz? The app provides answers to all of these questions using historical sources, multimedia content and witness-accounts, whilst giving insights into the history of Jews from Cologne.

The two institutions are in authentic locations, either in historic buildings or on historic sites. The app expands this urban spatial approach further, so that Cologne itself becomes part of the two facilities and their educational concepts. Both institutions have complemented each other with their collections and research findings thus gaining in-depth knowledge about the topics covering the persecution of the Jewish population in Cologne´s urban areas during National Socialism.
