75 Years Ago - Cologne in ruins

Cologne City Museum.
December 3, 2020 to June 27, 2021

At the centre of this impressive exhibition is a large model of the city of Cologne which was created for the feature film “About Endlessness” (2019) by the Swedish director Roy Andersson. The film is a poignant portrayal of the city in ruins immediately after the end of World War II in 1945. The Old Town was completely destroyed and hardly a single building was inhabitable above the basement level. Only roughly 40,000 people still lived in Cologne.
