Iconography and Meaning of Singhalese ritual masks

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) (German Research Organisation) sponsored a project in the years 1998-2004 under the aegis of the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum (Dr Ulrich Wiesner) entitled "Iconographic and iconometric documentation and analysis of ritual masks and costumes of Singhalese healing rituals (Sri Lanka). Evaluation of ritual texts and integration of the results in the mask collection of the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum".

Anna Wischkowski-Mey published the results in 2004 under the title »Maske und Maß: Eine Untersuchung zur Ikonografie und Bedeutung singhalesischer Ritualmasken und -kostüme«.
